.Introduction to What happens when you type URL in your browser and hit enter?
Web surfing or browsing has been a common thing to most us in search of various information of our interests. Surprisingly some of us have never been curious to know what really happens behind all these searches.
For your information despite the instant answer(s) for our query alot of things happen. Lemme call them road-trips. Indeed they are because to some extent I can say that our requests normally goes through various stages behind there.
Basically when we enter or insert texts on the web browsers’ search boxes. The texts need to be resolved to an IP address- this is done by the Domain Name System (dns) in order for the web browser to link up and communicate with the appropriate web server to retrieve the right web page and displays it on our screens. Just to add a bit on the “text” . The text am talking about can be of different format. For example www.example.com, example.com, etc. in the tech field these are what we call domain names.
This is just but a basic information. In my next post I will talk in depth what really happens behind the search we make on web browsers.
